Fic: Trials and Tribulations
Author: Rosi
Spoilers/Warnings: Spoilers up to Halfwit.
Prompt: 12 for House_Fest - “Write one of those ‘Wilson and Cameron chat about House’ scenes the writers keep implying.”
Words: 564
Summary: Wilson has a migraine. Cameron wants to talk about House.
Notes: God, this isn't very good. Concrit, therefore, is very, very welcome.
“So.” Cameron slammed the door of Wilson’s office shut. Wilson winced as the sudden unexpected noise caused a jolt of pain to sear through his head. Cameron’s arrival wasn’t doing anything to help the migraine he had been fighting for several hours now.
“Huh?” Wilson managed to reply. “Aah! Ah, no!” he gasped as Cameron flicked the lights on.
“What’s up?” Cameron asked him, a hint of concern creeping into her Hardass Voice™.
“Migraine,” Wilson told her, wrapping one hand over his eyes and flapping the other in the vague vicinity of the light switch. “God, turn off the-“
“Okay, okay,” Cameron said, lowering her voice and complying.
“Thank you,” Wilson breathed.
“We need to talk,” Cameron whispered.
Wilson couldn’t help but sigh. “House?”
“Yeah.” She paused. “He faked it.”
“What?”
“He faked the cancer. To get into a drug trial over in Boston.”
“What?”
“Yeah. That was pretty much how I reacted.”
Wilson felt himself start to laugh in pure relief. There was a touch of hysteria to it, he realized, but he couldn’t make himself stop. House was going to live. House didn’t have cancer. House was going to be okay.
Just as quickly as he had started laughing, he stopped, anger completely taking over from relief. “What the fuck was he thinking?”
Cameron put a hand on his shoulder. “Are you okay?”
“Why the hell would he do that? Put us all through thinking he was going to die?”
“I know.”
“Seriously, why?”
“I… don’t know,” Cameron replied, slowly. “I know he pretended to have the cancer to get into a drug trial, but I don’t know why he wanted to get into the drug trial so badly that he would do… this.”
“He was depressed,” Wilson sighed, the migraine taking hold once more. God, he was so tired. And he was so sick of House and his damn issues. “Must have been.”
“Or he just wanted a fix,” Cameron said, not a little sulkily.
“But why? Why would he go so far as to fake cancer? I mean, for God’s sake.” Wilson gave a sudden, strangled noise halfway between a hiccup and a sob. He shut his eyes, embarrassment fighting with relief, anger, pain and exhaustion in his over-crowded, over-stimulated brain. There was sudden silence in the office as Cameron looked at him, concern in her eyes.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” she asked softly.
“I just…” he pinched the bridge of his nose. “It’s a lot to take in, in a short space of time. I don’t know what to think. A person has to be seriously messed up to even think about doing something like this. It makes me… scared. About what he’s going to do next.”
“Nothing else is going to happen,” Cameron soothed him. Wilson gave a derisive snort. “No, we’ll sort it out. Whatever ‘it’ is. We can talk to him. Find out what’s going on. Get him to deal with it.”
“Yeah,” Wilson said sadly. “When has House ever dealt with anything?”

Since you asked for concrit, though... I think I could name a few concritty things (nothing major) - but tomorrow, and in an email, since I'm quickly approaching brain death atm (too little sleep last night) ^^. So, if you're interested, let me know :).
And yeah. Like with everybody else, Cameron's Hardass Voice™ had me lol-ing *gg*.

Oh so brilliant. So canon. So annoying Cameron.
Anyway, I don't think it's bad; I like it, actually, and I think Wilson's reaction to learning about House's lie probably went along these lines. Nice. ^^

And I'm glad you liked. As I mentioned, I was super-nervous about this fic, so I'm happy that you don't think it was bad.
Obviously.

Love the icon, too. Where'd you get it? I've seen some similar ones around.

And I'm glad you liked the fic. I thought it sucked, but y'know.
