Okay, we've experimented with this a bit, and have come up with a couple of possible solutions:

Option #1 (spoiler info)

and

Option #2 (spoiler info)

The second option with the black bars seems to provide better contrast.  But we were trying to avoid that if we could since they stand out like a sore thumb and look a little distracting for updates with lots of recced fics.

Would the first option do?  Or is the text still too hard to read?



ETA:  Here's another possible solution.  We could use white spoiler bars like we do on the Sick!Bits thread (http://community.livejournal.com/sick_wilson/223836.html).

But we'd have to include a note to remind people that we've included spoilers, since the bars won't show up on people's f-lists if they have a white background like this. :)
