Camp Sick!Wilson Icon and Banner Challenge


Since Camp Sick!Wilson is only going to run for about six weeks this year instead of the entire summer like last time, we're trying to get a few things done before the buses of eager and very enthusiastic campers start arriving on June 1st.

So we're going ahead with our first official challenge so we can "be prepared" like good little scouts.


There are four categories for this challenge:
  1. Camp Sick!Wilson icons

  2. Merit badge icons

  3. Large banners (as a temporary replacement for the one at the top of the main pages, and for a new activity thread)

  4. Small banners that participants can add to their profile pages

The only entries that will be put up for a vote will be:
  • The merit badge icons; and

  • The large banners

The rest will be made available to anyone who wants to use them, and agrees to credit the nice individual(s) who designed them. :)



Requirements/info for all categories 



  1. Entries should reflect a medical and/or summer camp theme.

  2. Restful, outdoorsy colors and backgrounds are preferred--especially for banners, e.g., greens, browns, blues, etc.

  3. No blindingly bright or near-seizure inducing designs, please.  "Not that there's anything wrong with that." *g*

    It's just that some of us are extremely sensitive to that sort of thing, and we wouldn't want to make anyone physically ill and have them spend their entire stay at Camp Sick!Wilson in the first-aid tent.  Well, except for Wilson, of course. ;)

  4. You're welcome, and even encouraged, to submit as many entries in as many categories as your sick!Wilson heart desires.

Camp Sick!Wilson icons 



  1. Size: 100x100 px

  2. Must include the words Camp Sick!Wilson


Merit badge icons 



  1. Size: 100x100 px

  2. Must include the words Camp Sick!Wilson, as well as the name of the category.

  3. You'll need to submit a complete set of badges (a total of 6) for the following categories for each entry:
    • Camper
    • Storyteller
    • Drabbler
    • Maniper
    • Vidder
    • Wilsoneer
  4. Leave room to add 5 stars to the Camper badges, and 3 stars for the other categories, like this:


    The person who submits the winning entry will need to add the stars to his/her icons no later than Wednesday, June 9th--2 days before the first badge ceremony.

    The exception is the Wilsoneer badge, which is a special award given only to those individuals who have earned a badge in at least 3 of the 5 categories, and won't include any stars.  So you have a bit more room, literally and figuratively, to dazzle us with your creativity. :)

  5. You can use pretty much the same design for most of the badges like we did last year, or you can make each one look different and/or include something that represents the individual activities.

    For example, how a scout merit badge for camping might feature a tent, or one for canoeing might feature a pair of oars, etc.


Banners 



  1. Banners must contain the words Camp Sick!Wilson, and the text must be large enough, and stand out against the background enough so that it's easy to read.

  2. Please feel free to add any additional text to your design, as long as it doesn't conflict with #6 below. :)

  3. Size requirements:

    Large banners

    • Width: 800 px
    • Height: 300-320 px
    Small banners

    • Width: 400-600 px
    • Height: 180-250 px

  4. You can use any screencap (or combination of screencaps) from the Sick!Pic Gallery or from your own collection, original art work, manips, clipart, etc.

  5. Don't incorporate someone else's fanart or manips into your design unless you've received permission from the artist, and provide proper credit.

  6. Banners must be safe for work, and not contain any profanity or nekkidness.  We wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble if they're trying to sneak a quick sick!Wilson fix at school or work. ;)

  7. You don't have to worry about trying to coordinate your banner with our current color scheme.  We'll change it to accommodate the winning design.

  8. The banner that receives the most votes will be displayed at the top of the main pages until Camp Sick!Wilson closes for the summer, and the one that gets the second most votes will be added to the new activities thread (similar to this one) where we'll keep track of all the camp-related bits of sick!Wilsony fun.

Deadline to submit entries Sunday, May 30th
Voting begins Monday, May 31st
Last day to vote Thursday, June 3rd
Winners announced Friday, June 4th
First badge ceremony Friday, June 11th


How to submit your entries

Don't post merit badges and large banners that will be put up for a vote to this thread.  We've set up a separate one with screened comments for that here.

All other submissions can be posted in the comments section below.
