Community Guidelines/General Info

Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] sick_wilson -- a community for everyone who loves to see Wilson suffer, and get some much needed TLC, especially from House.

We try very hard to make this community as fun and user-friendly as possible, and to help keep things running smoothly, here are a few ground rules.

General Info

  1. We love Wilson with all of our hearts
, and welcome a diversity of sick!Wilsony goodness in diagnoses and his relationships.  And while we shamelessly encourage you to inflict all sorts of physical and/or emotional suffering upon our favorite oncologist, we ask that you do so out of affection for a deeply flawed, complex character.  No Wilson-bashing fics or other material, please.

  • Be respectful of others
  • , and play nice in the sandbox.  Personal attacks, flaming, trolling, spamming, harassing the mods, and other obnoxious behavior will result in banishment from the community.

  • If you have any questions
  • or suggestions, please post a comment below, or PM one of your friendly neighborhood mods. :)

    Posting Entries

    1. All posts must be easily accessible
to our members.  Don't use a fake lj-cut to link to f-locked entries on your personal LJ, or to other sites that are restricted and/or require registration.

If the material contains adult themes, or you just feel more comfortable having an additional layer of security for whatever reason, you're welcome to post it directly to [livejournal.com profile] sick_wilson as an f-locked entry so any member who's logged in can see it.

  • Place the following items under an lj-cut:

    • Fics
    • Lengthy discussion posts
    • Large images
    • Multiple images
    • Anything that might be considered NSFW

  • Tag your posts.
  •   If you don't know how, or how our tagging system works, please read this thread.

  • If you're still pretty new to LJ,
  • and don't know how to post a fic, put something under an lj-cut, etc., be not afraid!  We have some illustrated tutorials for you, whether you use the Rich text or HTML tab.

  • Include a header
  • when posting your fic, something like this:
    Title:
    Author:
    Rating:
    Summary:
    Warning: (if applicable)
    Disclaimer:
    Author's Notes:

    ADDITIONAL INFO RE: HEADERS

    • Most writers use the MPAA rating system to rate their fics.  But if you're worried about those scary rumors on the internet about copyright infringement, you can provide a brief description instead, such as: "for all ages," "suitable for teenagers," or "for adults only."

    • Please include a warning in your header if your fic contains disturbing themes, e.g., character death, graphic violence, non-consensual sexual situations, etc.

    • If there's anything in your header that you feel might spoil a plot twist or other surprise, you can put it under spoiler bars or LJ's new spoiler tags.

  • We strongly encourage you to use a beta.
  •   Betas can be an invaluable source of help—pointing out typos and other mistakes that slipped past you, suggesting ways to iron out pesky trouble spots, and offering a different perspective.  If you don't have a beta, you can post a request to [livejournal.com profile] sick_wilson, or give a community like [livejournal.com profile] housefic_beta a try.

  • Click the Preview button
  • to make sure everything looks exactly the way you want it to, and fix any major formatting problems before you actually post.  Otherwise you might scare off any potential readers if most of the text is underlined, bolded, cluttered with a bunch of stray HTML tag fragments, etc.

If you can't figure out where you're going wrong, see if any of these suggestions help, or contact one of the mods for assistance.

  • Effective 01-01-12, you must link all of your chapters
  • for multi-part fics before we can consider adding them to our archives.  If you don't know how, here's a short illustrated tutorial.

  • If you're using fake lj-cuts
  • to link to more than one story in the same post, please make it clear which diagnosis tags go to which fics.  That saves the mods a lot of time, and we can get your stories added to the Sick!Fic threads much faster.

  • If you forget to put something under an lj-cut
  • , or if your post contains significant formatting problems, material that the mods and/or community deem offensive or objectionable, or anything that's a violation of our community guidelines, the mods reserve the right to delete it, or ask you to edit your post.

    Challenges and Contests

Any member of this community may post a challenge or contest if:
    1. It meets the criteria set forth in the guidelines; and

    2. You forward a copy of your announcement to the mods for approval before posting it.

    Community Pimpage

You're welcome to post challenges and promotional materials for other communities if:
    1. Wilson is included to some extent.  For example, if you want to post a challenge for Foreman/Thirteen fics only, that wouldn't meet our requirements.

    2. You forward a copy of your announcement to the [livejournal.com profile] sick_wilson mods for approval before posting it.
