Sick!Wilson Camp - Three Sentence Story Challenge

Good morning/afternoon/evening fellow campers. I have a new challenge for you. We did this last year and it was a lot of fun so I thought I'd 'recycle' the idea for this year.

This is called the Three Sentence Story Challenge.

Please comment to this post with a prompt for a Sick!Wilson story. Your fellow campers can then answer the prompts with a three sentence story. Multiple answers to each prompt are fine so don't worry if someone gets in before you - it's always interesting to get different takes on the same prompt! Comments on each other stories are also allowed (and encouraged!)

The prompts can be anything with a Sick!Wilson angle. Anyone is welcome to prompt, - you don't have to write a story to prompt. It would be great to see some prompts from some of you lurkers out there! (and you'd get a very stylish camper badge :)  Prompts and stories must include some element of sick!Wilson. Stories should be three sentences long, there is no limit on the length of the sentences :)

Please leave your three sentence story as a reply comment to the prompt.

I'll leave a couple of prompts to start us off.

What Wilson did between House's "death" and his funeral :

He looked at them, all lined up in a row, a pallid rainbow of colors leading to the only reward he wanted now. Looked at them, and smiled a little to himself because House wouldn’t ever learn, now, how Wilson had pulled the ultimate revenge prank: stealing House’s prescription pad and forging House’s name to the scripts. He’d done it weeks ago, just . . . just in case: now, he only had to make it through a few more hours, a few more platitudes, a simple ceremony – and he’d be free to learn for himself where House had gone.

This is so IC I can believe it is a missing scene.

[identity profile] knitty-woman.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Incredible.

[identity profile] petitecuriosity.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG. I'm with [livejournal.com profile] yarroway on this. So IC it could have been a missing scene.

[identity profile] sassyjumper.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
This is awesome. So powerful in a few lines.

Prompt: Wilson sustains an injury during Saturday Video Game Night

Wilson stared shamfully at his cast-covered left wrist, unable to believe that he had sustained an injury after doing something so idiotic.

"Told you not to mess with the Master of Mortal Kombat; now you've injured the fourth Mrs. Wilson," House taunted.

"Bite me," Wilson muttered through gritted teeth.

[identity profile] knitty-woman.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
'the fourth Mrs. Wilson' ... lol! Fabulous voices. Well done!

[identity profile] mnstrtruckslash.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
“Oww!” Wilson whines as his best friend elbows him in the chest—knocking the wind out of him—in the midst of an intense game of Mario Kart.

“That was an accident,” House explains, making sure to press the pause button before he drops his controller and examining his friend’s injuries.

“A likely story,” Jimmy replies, wincing and trying to catch his breath.

[identity profile] alternatealto.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Prompt: Wilson's first motorcycle lesson.

[identity profile] yarroway.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Road Rash

"Gas, brake, steering," House intones pointing at each in turn,"keep your helmet and jacket on when you ride."

It's a hot day and Wilson's jacket makes it a million times worse, so he stuffs it into his pack. Three hours later he takes a corner a little too fast, and discovers that House was right.

[identity profile] petitecuriosity.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ouch, yikes! I love how you've left this sort of open-ended, letting us know that Wilson is in danger but not specifying exactly what happened.

[identity profile] alternatealto.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, perfect! I agree with Menolly_au that the directions sound exactly like House. I hope road rash was the worst of Wilson's injuries -- but I bet he never leaves the jacket off again!

[identity profile] mnstrtruckslash.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Something very similar to that happened to Hugh in real life. I remember thinking about my brother showing me a HUGE scratch on his jacket once from falling off his bike.

[identity profile] skallaggrex.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Prompt: In Season 8's "Perils of Paranoia", Wilson fell from the net and broke his collarbone.

[identity profile] knitty-woman.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
As he lay in the ER awaiting his turn at the xray machine, Wilson alternately cursed his pain and pondered what had happened. How, exactly, had House managed to rig the apparatus on his ten-foot ceiling and insure that the net would hold Wilson's body weight? Not exactly exactly,Wilson thought dopily, and comforted himself with the only slightly reassuring thought that even House could miscalculate once in a while.

[identity profile] yarroway.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! Yes, that would be comforting. :)

[identity profile] petitecuriosity.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh I love this! It's so well put together, even with having only three sentences. I like that you've both illustrated Wilson's pain, his puzzlement at House's skills, and then amusement over his miscalculation.

[identity profile] skallaggrex.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for answering the prompt! That episode had me scratching my head about how House had set the trap, and how Wilson fell for it. Well, if Wilson got his shoulder X-rayed, maybe the thymoma will be discovered sooner and can be removed. That though will be AU territory...

[identity profile] sassyjumper.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent! You've fixed the whole final arc in three sentences.

[identity profile] skallaggrex.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Nice one! And I can see Wilson still insisting on chemotherapy even when all of the tumor can be removed. It will be just like him to think of the worst in terms of statistics...

[identity profile] mnstrtruckslash.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
House's net was probably set up in a similar fashion to the one Wilson put up with the trip wire, and some levers and pulleys and things, but Wilson didn't expect House to have booby traps up.

[identity profile] knitty-woman.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
that should be 'dozily' rather than 'dopily' ... can't seem to edit this properly.

[identity profile] mnstrtruckslash.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
House was unable to resist tickling his best friend, now that Wilson was partially defenseless due to his immobilized right arm.

“Knock it off or I’ll blab to everyone about that thing you did with the rubber duck,” Wilson warned, finally smiling.

“You swore you’d never tell,” House exclaimed, backing up in terror.

[identity profile] yarroway.livejournal.com 2013-06-11 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I love it when we see Wilson get the upper hand.

[identity profile] mnstrtruckslash.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, that was my goal. I had to think of a way for Wilson to make him stop, and this was the first thing to pop into my head. I have no idea what happened to the rubber duck anyway, which is why I made it a three sentence story.

[identity profile] skallaggrex.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, this reminds me of how House managed to get Wilson to do his bidding in "All in". Nail Polish on was it.. toe nails?

Wilson injures himself during the Tritter arc.
What Wilson did after speaking to House on the phone in "Broken."
Wilson hurts himself playing Dance Dance Revolution.

Wilson hurts himself playing Dance Dance revolution

“Tell me how this happened again?” House asked, barely containing his giggles.

“Stop laughing; I’m in pain,” I complained, “And I’ve told you like five times: I wrenched my back trying to do this special move in a song I’d never played before.” House nearly fell off the sofa from laughing so hard.

[identity profile] petitecuriosity.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. That's hilarious!

[identity profile] sassyjumper.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
What Wilson did after speaking to House on the phone in "Broken."

[The semi-colon is a wonderful cheating device.]

He stood there, holding the phone against his chest and trying to pretend he hadn’t just done it again. The last time he’d hung up on someone who needed him, things hadn’t turned out so well; but he told himself this time would be different. A moment later, he dropped the phone on the couch and shuffled to the bathroom, because he had his own pills to take.

[identity profile] alternatealto.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I love the parallel between House's condition and Wilson's, here. Brilliant!

[identity profile] petitecuriosity.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
I love this so much. Thank you for writing it! I love the comparison of House to Danny, and of the connection between House's pills and the one Wilson takes (presumably?) for depression.

[identity profile] knitty-woman.livejournal.com 2013-06-12 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. Very nice parallels with David's situation.

What Wilson did after speaking to House on the phone in "Broken."

He held on to the phone for a long time after ending the call, staring into space, his grip on the handset gradually getting tighter and tighter, squeezing until his fingers went numb. He'd thought he'd known what a void there was in his life with House away, but it seemed he hadn't: and now he couldn't be sure that House was getting better, was even trying to get better --and what if he couldn't?

He held on to the phone for a long time after ending the call, staring into space, the fear and worry inside him gradually growing stronger and stronger, squeezing until his heart went numb.

*sniffles* This was just lovely.

I like the way you describe Wilson's grasping of the phone handset, his fingers going numb. I had a physical sense of empathy while reading it. I also like the way you paralell the squeezing of his fingers with the squeezing of his heart, the overwhelming worry inside. I also love how you describe Wilson's thoughts over whether or not House will be able to get better. I could totally see this happening in that scene inbetween. Very IC, believable, and cathartic. (And so amazing to capture such intense emotion in a mere three sentences.)

"...squeezing until his heart went numb..."

:(

Amazing what can be done with three sentences.
