Camp Sick!Wilson Summer Fic Challenge

Looking for something to do to chase away those summertime blues?

Well, we have just what the doctor ordered.  A Camp Sick!Wilson fic challenge.  Yay! 

General info

We're pretty laid-back around here, especially this time of year, and want to make this challenge process as easy and informal as we can.

1. If you want to come up with your own prompt based on one of the three options described below, we're totally cool with that.
   
   And if you'd rather claim one that someone has submitted, that's fine too.
   
   The important thing is that you have a good time during your stay at Camp Sick!Wilson.  Oh, and hurt Wilson a lot. *rubs hands together in fiendish glee*


2. If you have some ideas for fics with a summer/vacation theme, you're welcome to submit as many prompts as you want.


3. If you see a prompt that you like, just reply to that particular comment thread to stake your claim, and go forth and write!


4. Each summer/vacation prompt can be claimed up to 2 times.


5. If you need a beta, or want to volunteer to be a beta or technical consultant, check out the Beta Café.


6. You can post your challenge fics anytime between Tuesday, June 1st and Friday, July 16th.

As always, please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.  We'll be at the first-aid tent, making sure we have plenty of supplies to patch Wilson up so you can torture him some more. ;)

Option 1

You can select one or more diagnoses from the 50 Ways to Hurt Your Wilson table as your prompt(s).

And don't forget, you can kill two birds with one stone, preferably a kidney stone. ;)


For example:

• Wilson could suffer from phlebitis and a DVT, which could lead to a pulmonary embolism.


• He could start grinding his teeth (bruxism), which could cause him to fracture a tooth, which could cause an abscess to develop.

Wheeeee!  Isn't this fun?

Option 2

You could write a fic where Wilson gets sick or injured from some kind of summer-related or outdoor activity, or while on vacation.


For example:

• Wilson could go running on a cloudy day to work off some stress, and get hit by lightning.


• He could have a wreck on a deserted stretch of road while driving to a cabin that he and/or House rented for vacation and get seriously injured.

If you can't think of anything, check out the comments section to see if anyone has submitted a prompt or two that tickles your sick!Wilson fancy.

Option 3

You can combine elements from Options 1 and 2.


For example:

• Wilson could get bitten by a tick while at a work-related retreat in the woods and develop Lyme disease.


• He could overexert himself at a PPTH picnic/'fun in the sun' event on a really hot day and suffer from heatstroke.


• Wilson could slip and fall while walking around a hotel swimming pool and wind up with a herniated disk.

Of course, the hypothermia/frostbite prompt might be a little hard to explain, unless Wilson decides to vacation in Antarctica. ;)

I stumbled across this article a few days ago, and thought Key West sounded like a wonderful place for Wilson to take a vacation. *grins evilly*

Okay, so how about one where Wilson goes hiking and comes back with chiggers? I got them once after fishing all day at my aunt's lake and I had almost decided to cut my legs off right when the itching finally started to fade. Mosquitoes ain't got nothing on those nasty little buggers.

Also, keep in mind the boy donated half his liver. It would regenerate, but: "The LDLT donor's immune system does diminish as a result of the liver regenerating, so certain foods which would normally cause an upset stomach could cause serious illness."

If, say at a BBQ, there was slightly off potato salad, others might get a bit sick but he'd get seriously ill.

I am looking for other effects that the donation might have had, but they mostly immediately follow the surgery.

Okay, thanks for the heads up.  I'll make a note to myself somewhere with good old-fashioned pencil and paper.  I currently have 10 tabs open, and I don't trust myself to put it in the right place right now.  Hee! :D
