Here's Virgil with the secret word (cue sound effects) MUAHAHAHAHA...
***NIGHTMARES***
1) Create a story, drabble, poem, vid, manip, macro, icon or original art using it as your prompt. Not only will you receive your normal activity badge, but you will receive a camper star.
2) Give a shout-out to the secret word in any other sick!Wilson project. For example, let’s say you are writing a story where Wilson slips and cracks a rib, and the secret word is "concussion." He might mention that the last time he was admitted as a patient was last summer when the campers (with all the love in the world) asked to take his picture near the falls, and oops!
In order to give you proper credit, we would appreciate if you would include a note in the header when you use it.
The secret word earns a bonus any time you use it during camp. Choose the current one or any of the previous prompts:
***INSOMNIA***
***ALLERGY***
***MIGRAINE***
Remember, this is your only twofer opportunity this summer. Earn two badges with one activity! It’s enough to cause a person to gasp with excitement… or was that sound I heard due to talking and eating marshmallows at the same time?
Have fun!

Trying to describe what makes a sick!Wilson fic work for me is kinda like Justice Potter Stewart trying to define obscenity. It's hard to explain, but I know it when I see it. :)
However, as a general rule of thumb, I like fics in which:
1. Wilson suffers from a fairly significant injury, illness, and/or some type of emotional hurt, and it's an integral part of the story.
2. There's a point to Wilson's suffering, whether it's to give House an opportunity to show how much he cares about him, to help him realize something about his friendship with House, to learn something about himself, etc.
3. And there's someone to provide the comfort part of the h/c equation (preferably House), or at least address why that doesn't happen. I'm totally cool with having my heart broken into a million little pieces if there's a nice angsty reason why Wilson has to suffer alone. ;)
Of course, there are always exceptions to any preconceived ideas I may have. It never ceases to amaze me how writers can...well, amaze me in "some new and unexpected way."
If you base your story on the Gecko's guidelines, by making Wilson's nightmare the major focal point of the story so the reader becomes involved, I think it could work.

And who knows, I might still write a nice nightmare story.
