Summer Danger Fun!

This year's badges may look all cute and cuddly.  But all of them represent a threat to Wilson's physical and/or emotional health.

So for this challenge, the objective is to submit some links or prompts inspired by any of the summer hazards depicted in the badges below.  The more diabolical, the better!

And does anyone want to 'hazard' a guess at to which item represents the greatest threat to our favorite oncologist? :D

Hmm, that's a tricky one. I'd like to say the ghost, because being dead is quite a danger. But then again, once you're a ghost, you can't quite die again can you?

Unless of course, someone calls the.... Ghostbusters !! (run Spirit!Wilson, run!!!)

Sorry - none of this is what you meant is it? I just spent 7 1/2 hours sitting on a plastic chair waiting for my name to be called on Jury Duty (it wasn't thankfully) so I am a little fried tonight.

Oh gosh, cute little Wilson ghost - who would be scared of that :)

Of course now I imagine a fic where Wilson gets 12 root canals...

[identity profile] yarroway.livejournal.com 2011-07-06 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
That is so cute. It just makes me happy to look at. :)

You got stuck in that jury room all day. How horrible. However if it helped produced that darling ghostbuster!Wilson I can't help but smile a bit at your plight. He's one ghost that can haunt me.

I would 'hazard' a guess that the sun is the deadliest of all these. According to this article (http://www.cancer.org/Cancer/CancerCauses/SunandUVExposure/skin-cancer-facts) skin cancer causes 11,700 deaths a year in the US.

Wilson being an oncologist and very well prepared would now, of course, cover up in the sun, but the damage might already be done...

Count on the Australians to say Sun is dangerous! My kids are now dark brown. All three of them. Sunscreen? No more, thanks. But then, none of them is Wilson-white.

[identity profile] menolly-au.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas this Australian is several shades whiter than Wilson-white. We didn't worry about sunscreen/hats/covering up when we were kids, just got sunburnt all the time, but now we are constantly bombarded with ads about skin cancer etc..

Well, I'm pretty sure it's not mummies.

[identity profile] barefootpuddles.livejournal.com 2011-07-06 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It may not be the actual item depicted. :)

Hmm...maybe we need a badge with House on it. He seems pretty dangerous to Wilson lately!

[identity profile] damigella-314.livejournal.com 2011-07-10 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Would that be Wilson himself? Or... us?

[identity profile] deelaundry.livejournal.com 2011-07-06 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow! The Icon Maker one star icon (fifth column, third row down) has always looked like an upside down bug to me. Right now was the first time I've ever seen it for what it is: BBQ grill with smoking coming out of it!

I'm going to guess the hot dog is the most dangerous thing, because of its high levels of fat. I think heart disease is the number one killer of middle-aged men in the US, and that arteries clogged with fat contribute to that.

There's quite a few that are frightening to me, but I'll go with the lightening strike--the ominous looking cloud.

[identity profile] brindlewolf.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's the little green germs on the hotdog camper badge. But then, cougars attack more people than bears ... and they're both pretty hazardous too.

[identity profile] menolly-au.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I think I got it! The Wilsoneers are the greatest threat to Wilson ('cos they torture him in the most categories :) (although wouldn't that apply to the hall of famer's too? so maybe not?)

[identity profile] mashfanficchick.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to say it's us: that the members of [livejournal.com profile] sick_wilson are the greatest threat to Wilson's health this summer.

...

MWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!

So true!

Shallow water. Water is very dangerous to begin with but if you dive into water that isn't deep enough, you can end up badly injured in one of several ways.

First and most obvious: you could break your neck but that's not all. Diving into shallow water can also cause less serious injuries like broken bones, or a bump on the head (which could lead to loss of consciousness) Let's say Wilson jumps into a pool or lake a miss judges the distance. Once his neck snaps, or he hits his head or breaks his leg, he'd still have to figure out a way to get out of the water (assuming he's conscious) before he drowns. If there was nobody around, water (shallow or deep) could kill him. That is why you always want to swim with a buddy.

Most drownings occur in less than 3 feet of water, and many sharks prefer the shallow to the deep when they feed. Jellyfish also tend to hang out near the shore.

Another issue with water is that it tends to conduct electricity and so if you swim in a storm, you run the risk of being struck by lightening.

And this is only what I've come up with off the top of my head. Imagine how many more horrible things we can come up with to do to Wilson in the water if we really think about it.

I may never go into the ocean again.

[identity profile] mnstrtruckslash.livejournal.com 2011-07-15 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
hopefully you're kidding but just in case you are actually worried:
1. As long as you aren't drunk and you know how to swim you're probably safe from drowning.
2. The diving into shallow water is pretty easy to figure out (look before you leap) and avoid.
3. As for sharks and jellyfish, that is a risk you'll have to take but I think most cities take precautions to protect the people visiting/ using the beach.
4. Lastly, lightning rarely strikes when it's not raining and so unless you swim in a thunder storm you will probably never get stuck by lightening. :D I was just trying to think of as many things we could do to Wilson in the water as I could.

Sorry, I left the ;) out of my post. I forget how important emoticons can be at the worst times!
