Open Thread for Opening Day! :-)

Ready to earn your first badge and start using it right away?  Cool!

We thought we'd get things started with an open thread.  All you need to do is post a least one comment below, and then go help yourself to the one-star Reveler badge on the self-serve badge thread. :-)

You can:
  • Drop by and introduce yourself

  • Post plot bunnies or other bits of inspiration for sick!Wilsony goodness

  • Share any RenFest (or similar) experiences that might have sick!Wilson potential

  • Or you can just help yourself to the refreshments, visit with your fellow fest-goers, bounce ideas off of each other, or whatever your sick!Wilson heart desires. :-)

For example, one time when I attended the Texas Renaissance Festival with some cousins, I forgot to read the handout they give you at the entrance because we girls were too busy buying garlands for our hair. ;-)

So when a RenFest sheriff selected me at random to ask what the king's colors were for that year, I didn't know, and got put in a pillory for a few minutes.  It was all in good fun, of course...until the guy started tickling me and wouldn't stop!  I couldn't catch my breath, and unfortunately, the sheriff was behind me and couldn't see my distress, and my cousins were too busy laughing to help.  I was beginning to think I was going to be literally tickled to death when someone FINALLY realized I wasn't kidding about not being able to breathe, and got me out of that darned thing. :-)

Thank goodness nothing like that would ever happen to Wilson.  Or would it?

Hello everyone, my name is Rachel. I'm from the Chicago suburbs (Highland Park), I'm a writer but I earn my living as a nanny/Sunday school teacher. I love comic books, movies, art, vegetarian cooking, photography and scrapbooking, horseback riding, reading/writing, working out, science fiction, House (and Wilson of course), anything related to Sherlock Holmes, and I recently got interested in the Supernatural fandom and show. I am very excited about RenFest. I've even signed up to be a page! My shift starts this Thursday and I have all sorts of exciting things planned for us!

As soon as I heard we were doing this, I started thinking about the season 2 episode, "Sleeping Dogs Lie," and how the POTW got the blacj plague from fleas from her dog and how easy that seemed to happen to her. I probably didn't need the spoiler warning but you never know. n season 7, Wilson got a cat named Sarah. Cats can get fleas too (I think), and so maybe House was right to be worried about Wilson's pet. I haven't been able to make this plot bunny work so I am handing it over free of charge to anyone who wants it.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Oh, that's a great idea! I don't think anyone's given Wilson the plague yet.

I think we'll be a small, cozy group so I might even have a chance to join in the fun. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us...and Wilson.

Actually, there's an oldie but goodie that fits the bill for RenFest, Quarantine (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9488200/1/Quarantine) by SwissArmyKnife. It's set in 1665, London.

eta: *huffs* Sorry for all the edits. I've been away from LJ for too long and forgot my mad html skilz.

That's right! I'd forgotten that one.

I didn't give Wilson the plague, but I did have him worrying about getting it in a past sick!Wilson Fest story The Return of Steve McQueen (http://barefootpuddles.livejournal.com/3017.html)
