The Sick!Wilson Episode Tournament - Grand Final

There are now just two episodes left in the running for the title of Best Sick!Wilson episode ever - Wilson's Heart and The C-Word. Both crushed their oppostion mercilessly in the semi-finals.

Final results were

The C-Word 14 The Social Contract 2
Wilson's Heart 14 Safe 2

The Social Contract and Safe both ran a strong race to get to the semi-finals but in the end could not withstand the power of the Wilson suffering represented in our two finalists.

We also had the largest Voter turnout yet in the competition - let's see if we can beat that in the final. Every vote counts! Will it be the extreme physical suffering of The C-Word, or the heartbreaking grief of Wilson's Heart?

As always your thoughts as to why you voted the way you did are welcome! Also, what is your personal favourite sick!wilson episode?

This poll will close very early on Friday Morning (Halloween) US time - the last day of our Ren Fest, and the final result will be announced shortly thereafter. If there is a tie the title will be awarded to both episodes.

So it comes down to emotional vs. physical hurt. Interesting.

I love both episodes. Actually, Wilson's Heart might edge out The C Word in drama and quality. It certainly carried a huge punch. After three viewings I couldn't bear watching it anymore. However, because the rift between House and Wilson couldn't be wider, and the opposite occurred in the C Word, I'm voting for the latter, despite the illogic of couch chemo and the survival rate of thymoma.

I thought there was a fair amount of emotional hurt in C Word. In fact it's because of that, coupled with House and Wilson as a team, that I voted for it. There's such incredible intimacy in that episode. It was everything I wanted.

I agree -- I voted for the The C Word because it had physical and emotional hurt, and because I loved the House/Wilson interaction. For me, Wilson's Heart is a better overall episode, as far as writing quality ... but C Word was better than most of the latter-season episodes.

Agreed! I wasn't explicit enough in my comment before. The C Word received a higher thumb's up than Wilson's Heart because of the hurt/comfort component, and therefore the emotional aspect.

My thoughts too. I'm still trying to make up my mind.
Re the survival rate of thymoma, House said that the chance the killer chemo would kill Wilson was the same as the thymoma. Which Wilson said earlier was 25%, so the whole killer chemo thing isn't really as crazy as it looked at first. I'm not calling it a GOOD plan, just not as deadly as it was hyped. I'll never understand why they did it on House's couch, though.

Just as an aside--and I know I'm alone on this--but I really liked the thing they did with the odds of recovery. If 99 out of 100 people recover, that doesn't do anything for the 100th.

I remember looking up statistics on Wilson's cancer because so many people were claiming it was unrealistic Wilson's cancer would be fatal, and calculated that ~47 Americans die of it each year. Knowing it's rare isn't much of a consolation when you're one of them.

Yeah, I'm thinking Wilson underestimated how bumpy his chemo ride would be, considering his original plan was to do it alone.

House's couch in RL was indeed an odd choice, but this is Houseland. ;-)
