Drabble : These Things

Title: These Things
Author: menolly_au
Rating: PG(13)
Warning : Violence

Drabble written for the three things challenge - a baseball bat, a book shelf and a horror movie.

There are things that Wilson can never forget

the sight of the door crashing open, the men invading his house

the way the baseball bats looked in their hands, the pain as they hit him

the horror movie playing on the television, the soundtrack covering his screams

the crawl to the bookcase for his cell phone, the blood staining the floor

the long wait for help in the dark, the flashing lights of the ambulance

This thing he will always remember

waking up in hospital with House sitting by his side

“They got them Jimmy. You're safe, it's over.”

Great imagery! You caught the scene so vividly with just a few words, hats off to you.

Very powerful drabble. Love how you prefaced and concluded it--and everything in between.

Oh my, poor Wilson!

I loved the comparison between the subtitles - the things Wilson will never forget and the things he will always remember. Nicely put. :)

Your imagery is very intense. I liked the "never forget / always remember" dichotomy, too. The last two lines were a perfect ending for the story!

aw :) (because there's houst at the end)

I like the comparison between things he can't forget, and things he will remember - the intention behind the memories of both sets.

Poor Wilson! Horrific beginning but so worth the ending. Nicely done!
