Spoiler Alert:  None, really.  Takes place after season 7 but could take place anytime, really.

Crippled King

Occasionally while working under Cuddy’s administration, Wilson had mused that if he were in charge he would do things more fairly and efficiently.

He was summoned back into the board room.  Before he even sat down the chairman announced, “We’ve decided to reject you’re motion to rehire Dr. House.”

Wilson’s hands clenched under the table, “I was under the impression when I took the job as Dean I had some say over hiring.”

“Ordinarily,” he was told, “but not this time.  That’s our decision, Doctor.”

Nodding, Wilson stood and left.

What good was a King with an imaginary crown?

Very good and very realistic. Working in both a university and a hospital setting I know that deans are really just "first among equals". They are subject to pressure from all sides and are more like mediators than kings. So sad though that Wilson had to discover that through trying to help House.
