Today's topic: The Saddest Man in New Jersey

That's what RSL called Wilson during the series. Now that it's over let's revisit the concept. What is it about Wilson that makes him sick!fic fodder? Is it built into the character or does RSL bring that "certain something"? What makes us pick up on it? With the finale we know even tptb saw and wanted to exploit it. Is it because Wilson is House’s sole support system, and the key to House’s vulnerability, or is it intrinsic to Wilson?

Bonus questions:

• When did you first discover Wilson was a prime candidate for suffering?
• Was it unfair what tptb did to Wilson?

THIS. Almost word for word my experience and feelings. IMO, DS dropped the ball for several seasons and let the show coast on its momentum. Worse, he appears to be one of those showrunners who gets caught up with the novelty of a new character or arc, but then loses interest in the follow through. I'm praying that in his next production he doesn't assemble charismatic actors I'd want to watch.

The curse of WIPs! When I became hooked on House I hadn't a clue about fanfiction sites. I was looking for more information about House and Wilson. The multi-chaptered fics drew me in, but since it was 2008 there were a good percentage of completed works and no waiting time between chapters. It suited my hunger to learn about the guys. My preference these days are for one-shots.
