First times at anything can be scary and dangerous.

The first time 5-year-old James rides a two-wheeler without training wheels, he hits a curb and flips over the handlebars, then spends a week in the hospital with a severe concussion; he refuses to try to ride again for five years.

Climbing onto a vintage motorcycle for the first time, 41 years later, is the easiest thing he has ever done; perhaps it's the company.

So perfect! I found the idea of Wilson being at all able to drive a motorcycle unbelievable in canon, but it has given rise to so many delightful fics, this one included, that I'm now almost reconciled with it.

I know canon!Wilson said his parents never let him drive go carts when he was young, but I can imagine a rebellious teenage Wilson learning to ride a dirt bike while at a friend's house, and then casually telling his parents about it!
