Camp Sick!Wilson Partay!
Howdy, Campers!
It’s that time again—the last day of camp, which means before the buses arrive, let's get down, let's get crazy, LET'S PARTAY!
Come to the mess hall and scarf up theleftovers trashy eats whipped up by your mod team, and mingle amongst your new and old friends. A projector and mike are set up for you to share your arts and crafts projects. Show off any graphics you’ve worked on or any partially finished or rough drafts. We all crave one more sick!Wilson creation to ooh and aah over, so don't be shy. And if you like, we’ll be happy to offer encouragement or suggestions. Just ask.
To get the conversation started, here are some topics to discuss. Answer any or all of them, or go right ahead and pose your own.
Something new this year—you can earn an activity or specialty badge by participating in this activity! Here’s a chance to go home with a souvenir from camp or bump up a star. Don’t forget to pick up one before you leave.

A year later, do you still miss House MD and Wilson? What are you doing to cope?
Yes. Dearly. I've been rewatching episodes, participating in discussions, reading fic, writing fic, and making videos. I don't think I'm truly doing anything differently than when the show was on, other than no longer waiting for new episodes each week.
Are you watching reruns? In retrospect which arc did you like the most? Least? Why?
I am watching reruns, yes. In retrospect, I really did enjoy all of Seasons 1 and 2, and those two will always be my favorite seasons. I preferred when the drama of the characters was told through the medicine, rather then having them exist side-by-side with the drama overtaking the medicine. I am also realizing how much I truly appreciated House's first team; I feel as though they all had distinctly different personalities, and brought varying points of view and backgrounds to the table. The arc I liked the least was the Huddy arc. I am a fan of both Cuddy and House, but I did not like the show's central focus becoming a romantic relationship (any romantic relationship really). This arc also contained my least favorite House episode ("Two Stories") as well as my least favorite finale "Moving On."
Since the show ended, have your thoughts about any of House characters changed?
In all honesty, as I read more and more fics, I am consistently reevaluating both House and Wilson's characters. We've seen how they act when Wilson is dying, but what happens after that? How will they act if Wilson lives? If he dies?
In rewatching, I am viewing both Chase and Cameron differently. I have a much more positive and complete view of them.
Besides House, is there another character you would like Wilson to interact with?
Cuddy. I love the House/Wilson/Cuddy OT3 and did enjoy the Wilson and Cuddy friendship.
Thirteen. I enjoyed her conversations with him, the little truth-or-dare game they played. And he was the one who tried to get Thirteen to come back the first time she left.
Chase. To mess with House and make him jealous.
Danny.
Would you want a reunion show?
How exactly does a reunion show work?
If you were a screenwriter and wrote a reunion show, which network would you choose: Fox, ABC, or HBO? What would be your pitch?
See above.
Does your House-love extend beyond the show and characters? Did anybody see HL or RSL in live performances in the past year? Share your experience(s).
I saw RSL in "Falling Skies." In all honesty, he's been the only actor from the show that I've properly been able to separate into characters other than the one he played on "House." I saw HL in "The Oranges" but so long as he's speaking in an American accent, I have difficult separating him from House.
Anyone watching Falling Skies? Does Dr. Kadar resemble Dr. Wilson? How do they differ?
Just the RSL bits. I think that Wilson is more concerned with being socially acceptable than Dr. Kadar. Dr. Kadar's obsessive nature and intelligence reminded me somewhat of House. Wilson thirsts for people, to be need and Dr. Kadar seems to be quite the opposite. Still, they both seem to feel deep pain that they want to avoid thinking about but can't, likely due to some sort of incident in their past.
Are there any new shows or characters filling in the House-sized hole left in your viewing schedule? Anything you’d like to recommend? Why?
Only the futile hope that "House" will return with better writers.I'm reading more fic now. ;) Other than that, I've been watching I.D. Discovery and various reality shows.no subject
Ugh, agree so hard. No question that was the worst finale, IMO. And "Two Stories" was so bad, I stopped watching the show until the last couple episodes of the season. That's how much I hated it. :p

...And running house_rewind. Your contributions to House fandom are appreciated.
How exactly does a reunion show work?
It's a scripted episode with as many of the original actors who can be rounded up. It takes place in current time. Many British series have Christmas specials.
This arc also contained my least favorite House episode ("Two Stories") as well as my least favorite finale "Moving On."
Same here. I actually turned off "Two Stories" in the middle, which I had never done before or after. Never saw the rest.

A year later, do you still miss House MD and Wilson? What are you doing to cope?
One of the very best things about being involved in House fandom (and I imagine the same could be said for other fandoms too) is the people I meet. The fans I have come to know are wonderful people, and so long as I can argue and rant and be inspired by them, I'm just fine.
Are you watching reruns?
No. I've seen the episodes so many times now that I don't want to now. I will want to rewatch in a year or so, I'm sure.
In retrospect which arc did you like the most? Least? why?
I can't pick a favorite arc. How can I chose between Stacy, Vogler, Tritter, the survivor arc and Dibala when each has such great moments?
The huddy arc was my least favorite thing about the show, no contest. I disliked Cuddy, disliked the long drawn out will they/won't they that preceded it, disliked the torturous pace of the whole thing, disliked the person House turned into during it, disliked the balance of relationship drama to medical drama during it, disliked the way House was treated, disliked the insertion of The Cute Kid, and disliked what the ship wars did to fandom. If I left anything out, you can safely assume I disliked that, too.
Since the show ended, have your thoughts about any of House characters changed?
No, not really.
Besides House, is there another character you would like Wilson to interact with?
Sarah, because I love cats. Any member of Wilson's family. Grace. Sam. Julie. Chase. Foreman. Kutner. If the interaction has some depth to it, I'd take Wilson interacting with almost anyone.
Would you want a reunion show?
No. The series ended in a good place for a finale. I don't want that messed up.
If you were a screenwriter and wrote a reunion show, which network would you choose: Fox, ABC, or HBO? What would be your pitch?
HBO, except I don't get that network. :(
I'd want to do it as a miniseries, actually, and I'd trace House and Wilson's adventures as they work through a lot of what happened in the series. With occasional jaunts back to PPTH for the viewers to check on the other characters.
Does your House-love extend beyond the show and characters? Did anybody see HL or RSL in live performances in the past year? Share your experience(s).
Wish I had seen them in the past year, but no. I saw Born Yesterday, if that counts.
Anyone watching Falling Skies? Does Dr. Kadar resemble Dr. Wilson? How do they differ?
The "no no no" reminded me of Wilson and his meatballs. Also Kadar's snark was kind of Wilsony.
Are there any new shows or characters filling in the House-sized hole left in your viewing schedule? Anything you’d like to recommend? Why?
I happened across an old show called The Dresden Files that I really liked about a wizard/PI in Chicago. I'm not sure other House fans would care for it. It's urban fantasy, a little noir. Sadly it was cancelled during its first season.
I watch Supernatural but stay religiously away from the fandom.
I really like Person of Interest but it doesn't quite speak to me the way House did. Although I do like the contrasting geniuses with canes.

I am so glad to know this! :) I love reading your fic and your ideas!
If the interaction has some depth to it, I'd take Wilson interacting with almost anyone.
I totally agree with you here.

I started watching PoI this year. Does Mr. Finch use a cane? I know he limps (by his looks and the way he walks, he kinda reminds me of a penguin.).

I do miss having new episodes, but sticking around here and reading great fics has really helped fill the void. Honestly, I'd been missing the "old" House M.D. for a few years before it ended.
Are you watching reruns? In retrospect which arc did you like the most? Least? why?
Nope. I got rid of my TV. Is that the mark of a true fan? Show ends, throw your TV out the window.
In retrospect, I liked Season 2 the most; I think the show really hit its stride at that point. The writing was still witty and interesting, and there was a good balance between medicine/ethical issues and the characters' personal issues. What I liked least -- the "romances," no question. House/Cuddy was the biggest drain on the show, IMO -- but Chase/Cameron and Foreman/Thirteen were boring as hell, and really diminished the characters. Especially in the case of Chase and Cameron.
Since the show ended, have your thoughts about any of House characters changed?
Not in any significant way.
Besides House, is there another character you would like Wilson to interact with?
I'll say "anyone." By the later seasons, Wilson's role had become so narrow -- not only interacting almost exclusively with House, but increasingly on one subject: Cuddy. In the earlier seasons, when they remembered Wilson was a doctor, he would have at least some interaction with the team, and with Cuddy on matters other than dating House.
Would you want a reunion show?
I don't think so -- although like Petite, I'm not sure what that is. If, like RSL suggested, they do a Christmas musical special, then I'm all for it ;)
If you were a screenwriter and wrote a reunion show, which network would you choose: Fox, ABC, or HBO? What would be your pitch?

I wish I could say I've seen either of them perform live! I just might be able to swing seeing RSL do Pygmalion in Massachusetts next month, though.
Anyone watching Falling Skies? Does Dr. Kadar resemble Dr. Wilson? How do they differ?
I've only seen RSL's scenes. Other than the dry comments, Dr. K is very different from Wilson, and more like House -- And I think it's awesome to see him play a House-like character. :)
no subject
Don't forget writing fics! :) Your writing is always a treat to read.
In the earlier seasons, when they remembered Wilson was a doctor, he would have at least some interaction with the team, and with Cuddy on matters other than dating House.
I miss seeing Wilson actually acting as a doctor in the later seasons. I was very happy to see "Wilson" for that reason. But in the earlier seasons, we see him doing lumbar punctures, talking to patients, House approaching him for consults, etc.
And I think it's awesome to see him play a House-like character. :)
Agreed! If RSL and HL ever end up working together again, I am hoping it is as some sort of villianous duo. ;)
no subject
Yep, now that it's over it's easy to forget.
Foreman/Thirteen were boring as hell
ZOMG! They were so boring, I completely blanked out on their couplehood... er, the same way I did with the ultra irritating Masters. JMO.
he would have at least some interaction with the team
I never understood why Wilson went the way of the whiteboard.
I don't think so -- although like Petite, I'm not sure what that is. If, like RSL suggested, they do a Christmas musical special, then I'm all for it ;)
Basically, that's what it is, usually without the music, but boy wouldn't it be a blast if Joss Whedon wrote it?
And I think it's awesome to see him play a House-like character. :)
True! His Henry Higgins also had overtones of House. I hope you get a chance to see Pygmalion.

Are you watching reruns? In retrospect which arc did you like the most? Least? why? I catch reruns from time to time if I happen to remember to turn on the television and actually look for them. I'm more apt to pop a DVD into the player and watch an episode or two. My favorite arc has to be the first half of S6, before Sam arrived to screw everything up. Watching House really work on his addiction, really try, but get so little recognition for it from anyone, was both wonderful and heartbreaking. I hated all of Season 7.
Since the show ended, have your thoughts about any of House characters changed? Not much, no. I didn't watch S7 at all, so I don't have the loathing for Masters that many others have. Whoever came up with "BoreTeen" as a description of the Foreman/Thirteen relationship was spot-on. I never really warmed up to Thirteen all that much, and I only got to liking Foreman when he took over after Cuddy left: Omar Epps didn't get much (or any) more screen time that season, but there finally seemed to be a purpose for the character beyond just resenting House. My favorite "duckling" was and will probably always be Chase; the rest of the group I can still take or leave alone.
Besides House, is there another character you would like Wilson to interact with? I loved "Wilson", the episode where we get to see Wilson doing his job despite the antics of House and his team. I would have liked to see more of that, really -- Wilson interacting with not just the other main characters, but with Clinic patients or Oncology staffers. And I would have loved to actually meet Danny, and see how much of the way Wilson relates to House springs from his earlier relationship with his damaged brother. Finally, my secret fantasy episode would feature Wilson and Nolan getting together in a restaurant or bar somewhere to talk about House. Yes, total violation of confidentiality laws, friendship rules and all kinds of other ethics -- but man would that be a fascinating conversation to listen in on!
Would you want a reunion show? Only if it did NOT feature Cuddy. (Yes, I am still bitterly resentful about Season 7. Deal with it.)
If you were a screenwriter and wrote a reunion show, which network would you choose: Fox, ABC, or HBO? What would be your pitch? Well, certainly not Fox! I still don't watch much TV, so I'm not up enough on the other networks to have an opinion.
Are there any new shows or characters filling in the House-sized hole left in your viewing schedule? Anything you’d like to recommend? Why? I'm looking forward to ABC's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." I'm not even really sure why, except that I got a huge kick out of Iron Man 3 in the theatres this summer -- and I'd love to know how they plan to bring Agent Phil Coulson back from the dead. (Who knows, maybe House was involved . . .!)
no subject
I thought Foreman really came into his own as the Dean of Medicine.
Only if it did NOT feature Cuddy.
Amen!
I'm conflicted about watching "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.". While I adore Joss Whedon, I'm not an action show fan. Will watch a couple of episodes and then decide.

I really wish they'd developed that arc more, and stuck with it rather than have House return to the same old same old. The Sam thing was just bizarre really.

Yes to infinity on all of this! (I would love to read a fic where Wilson chats with Nolan. I'm not entirely sure, but I think that when Nolan called House in when his father was dying blurred the lines of the doctor-patient relationship a bit, but I'm not entirely sure.)

Yes, I miss new episodes; I'm reading fiction and hope to write some.
Are you watching reruns? In retrospect which arc did you like the most? Least? why?
Yes, selectively. Liked most...Vogler I guess...some very interesting character development. Least...Season 7...never understood the point of "Huddy" as TPtB said a relationship between them would never work...so why go that way?
Since the show ended, have your thoughts about any of House characters changed?
Due to some fics I can see that Wilson is a rather darker character that I initially thought...with much re-watching I can see that he is a much more screwed-up person than House.
Besides House, is there another character you would like Wilson to interact with?
Chase, Kutner (I liked Kutner...he's a fanboy geek...I"m a middle-aged fangirl geek), I wish that he had "had it out" with Cameron...her attitude towards him at the end of the Tritter arc made me want to smack her.
Would you want a reunion show?
Depends..if they could come up with a story good enough to justify one.
If you were a screenwriter and wrote a reunion show, which network would you choose: Fox, ABC, or HBO? What would be your pitch?
HBO....with them we might truly get Hilson
Does your House-love extend beyond the show and characters? Did anybody see HL or RSL in live performances in the past year? Share your experience(s).
I saw HL in concert twice late last summer...he and his band put on a really great show...did get his autograph after the second one...can't say we actually met...all he saw of me was a hand with a CD in it... Going with a friend to see RSL in Pygmalian. Saw him in "Born Yesterday"...he graciously signed programs and posed for photos.
Anyone watching Falling Skies? Does Dr. Kadar resemble Dr. Wilson? How do they differ?
The voice is the same...but Kadar is a very sad and scruffy man next to Wilson...he even seems smaller than Wilson.
Are there any new shows or characters filling in the House-sized hole left in your viewing schedule? Anything you’d like to recommend? Why?
Haven't been able to get into anything on a regular basis...waiting for season 3 of Sherlock.
no subject
Agreed! I think there would be a high probability. But HBO shows also have a high death toll. ;-)
Congratulations on getting HL's autograph. I haven't heard of anybody else being so lucky.
I saw Pygmalion in San Diego. Your production has the same director, Nicholas Martin (was nominated this year for a Tony) directs, and Paxton Whitehead is reprising Colonel Pickering. Don Sparks returns as Alfred Doolittle--he was excellent. I'm curious what kind of chemistry there will be between the actress playing Eliza and RSL. She's very talented but very young--in her twenties.
I'm looking forward to series 3 of Sherlock... but first must watch "The Reichenbach Fall." I've been hoarding it on my DVR. :P

I was confused by many of the comments TPTB made on Huddy. On the one hand, they said that the union of House and Cuddy was inevitable, on the other, they said it would never work. Some of the writers have said that Wilson is the most important person to House, other people have said that House has a female soulmate out there somewhere. Honestly, I think that differing opinions and ideas from the writers might have led to what was, IMO, a rather haphazardly done Season 7.
Due to some fics I can see that Wilson is a rather darker character that I initially thought...with much re-watching I can see that he is a much more screwed-up person than House.
I too would have loved to see more interaction between Wilson and Cameron during the Tritter arc.
What kind of story do you think would make for a good reunion show?
HBO....with them we might truly get Hilson.
OMG. I never thought of that. That is genius.
And Kadar does seem smaller than Wilson, that is a good point. I think it might be that Kadar seems to sort of hunch over when he walks, or that he wants to hide his precense more than Wilson does.
How is Sherlock? I have been debating back and forth whether or not to check it out. If you don't mind my asking, are you in Sherlock fandom?

Honestly, by the end I was more interested in the discussions and the fic, and I still have those so I don't miss it that much. If I lost those I'd miss it enormously, plus I've made such great friends here!
In retrospect which arc did you like the most? Least? why?
I liked the medical mysteries and ethical dilemmas. For an "arc" I guess I'd say I liked Chase's growth from sycophant to confident diagnostician the best (and yet I disliked Chase), and I liked House trying and all too briefly succeeding in going drug-free and being healthier. The Huddy arc was the arc I hated the most (and yet I loved Cuddy).
Since the show ended, have your thoughts about any of House characters changed?
I've mentioned Chase already. Cameron got tougher. Foreman didn't change because that's who he is. Wilson and Cuddy devolved into caricatures of themselves.
Besides House, is there another character you would like Wilson to interact with?
Cuddy and Cameron; I was always interested by those hints we had of his friendships with them. I'll always wish we'd met Danny.
Would you want a reunion show?
The English language doesn't contain words strong enough to express how much I DON'T want a reunion show.
Are there any new shows or characters filling in the House-sized hole left in your viewing schedule? Anything you’d like to recommend? Why?
I enjoyed Elementary a great deal. It has a tortoise.

We're lucky many of our talented writers are still writing.
've mentioned Chase already. Cameron got tougher. Foreman didn't change because that's who he is.
See, that's the difference between the new team and the old. We saw how the ducklings evolved under House's influence, even within the first three years. That really didn't happen with Taub, Thirteen, and Kutner.
I enjoyed Elementary a great deal. It has a tortoise.

I think honestly I miss the fandom activity that was sparked by the episodes rather than the episodes themselves. The show had really lost its way by the end of its run sadly.
Are you watching reruns? In retrospect which arc did you like the most? Least? why?
I'm doing house_rewind, which is up to the fairly painful Tritter arc. I think the arc I like the most is the Stacy arc. (Does the couple of episodes of House/Cuddy/Wilson triangle count as an arc? If so I like that one too :) The least - House/Cuddy, not because I hate the idea, but because they did it so poorly.
Besides House, is there another character you would like Wilson to interact with?
I'd like to know what happened between Cuddy and Wilson after she left PPTH. The bits we got of Wilson & Foreman in the eighth season were interesting. It would have been nice to see Wilson with a few different people.
Are there any new shows or characters filling in the House-sized hole left in your viewing schedule? Anything you’d like to recommend? Why?
After a few years of not watching much TV drama I've been catching up on a few shows. So I marathoned White Collar and Arrow. I've been watching Elementary and Once Upon a TIme as they air. I'd recommend Elementary, mostly for the Holmes/Watson interaction. I think Under the Dome looks interesting so I might catch that when it starts. I've just started watching The Americans which I'm enjoying. Nothing really grabs me in terms of wanting to go off and write it though.

This. I have yet to see any other show I would have the least interest in writing for. There are some shows/fandoms I'll cheerfully read fics for (Stargate: SG-1, MacGyver, and The Avengers, for instance), but I have zero interest in writing for them, except maybe as a House crossover. (And then with the focus on House, not so much the other fandom.)

I definitely miss it. I especially miss the larger fandom, though I am enjoying the more laid back camaraderie of those who are left. I also have been reading a ton, though the writing has been a bit stuck lately. I am also short on time and writing for me takes forever.
Are you watching reruns?
I have, though it is rather random viewing. I saw Black Hole just the other day and really enjoyed it. I have also seen Mr. Nice Guy (is that the episode name?) about two weeks ago as well as Mirror Missor recently. I almost always enjoy them when I watch them.
In retrospect which arc did you like the most? Least? why?
I loved the Stacy Arc. I wish her character had made occasional appearances throughout he show. I dislike the Tritter Arc. I is both factually ridiculous and almost too plain painful to watch at times. I also hate the Cancer Arc for similar reasons.
Since the show ended, have your thoughts about any of House characters changed?
I have started to forgive House for 'Moving On'. And Wilson is returning to my old idea of Wilson - less outwardly angry - before the end of the last season.
Besides House, is there another character you would like Wilson to interact with?
Cuddy. I always wanted to see more of them outside of the House connection. I firmly believe (assuming they were real of course) that there was a real friendship there.
Would you want a reunion show?
Only if Wilson were alive.
If you were a screenwriter and wrote a reunion show, which network would you choose: Fox, ABC, or HBO? What would be your pitch?
I don't care what network, but my pitch would be that someone important (the president?) is dying and that Foreman contacts House. Wilson and he have been practicing medicine somewhere under assumed names. Wilson did not have cancer after all, it had been a medical anomaly that House eventually figured out. The deal is that for House's coming out of hiding he gets a deal with the prosecutor. It's farfetched, but it might work. I would have liked it to have Cuddy in it, but seeing what the show had him do to her, it would not be fair to her character to have her have to deal with House ever again.
Does your House-love extend beyond the show and characters? Did anybody see HL or RSL in live performances in the past year? Share your experience(s).
Despite my trepidation at seeing Wilson not be Wilson, I did go see RSL in Pygmalion with the ever lovely
Anyone watching Falling Skies? Does Dr. Kadar resemble Dr. Wilson? How do they differ?
My 14 year old watches it. He says Wilson is a good character and will fit well with the show. I watched the RSL highlights. It is so not my kind of show.
Are there any new shows or characters filling in the House-sized hole left in your viewing schedule? Anything you’d like to recommend? Why?
I have been watching the Big Bang Theory. My 14 year old really loves that show so I thought 'why not?'. I am catching up with the reruns. It really is very funny and unlike House, easy to leave behind in between episodes. Not something I would write or read fanfiction for, but I am sure other would and do.

"No More Mr. Nice Guy" to be exact--one of the longer titles. I'm still not ready to commit to watching episodes on a regular basis, but if there's an episode on while I'm channel surfing, there's a good chance I'll watch it.
I loved the Stacy Arc. I wish her character had made occasional appearances throughout he show. I dislike the Tritter Arc.
The Stacy Arc had a natural, unhurried flow, plus it included "Three Stories," the best episode.
Cuddy. I always wanted to see more of them outside of the House connection. I firmly believe (assuming they were real of course) that there was a real friendship there.
Several early fics portrayed a nice connection among the three. I prefer to think of them that way.
I don't care what network, but my pitch would be that someone important (the president?) is dying and that Foreman contacts House.
They can cast Joe Morton as President Gary Wright from "Role Model." (a cute coincidence to your story.)
I did go see RSL in Pygmalion with the ever lovely srsly_yes He was very good, exceptionally so IMHO, and I was able to keep the characters separate.
And you were inspired to write a wonderful HW story, Role Model (http://barefootpuddles.livejournal.com/29172.html). Seeing Pygmalion together was a highlight of 2013. :)
I have been watching the Big Bang Theory. My 14 year old really loves that show so I thought 'why not?'. I am catching up with the reruns.
I gave BBT a try this year. Watched the latest season and a smattering of repeats. The writing is funny, and the actors are talented.

I'm watching episodes through house_rewind. I liked the Stacy arc a lot. Also the majority of season 6. Even the Vogler and Tritter arcs I'm okay with watching just because I like the drama and obstacles it causes. Didn't like the Huddy arc, surprise surprise. The entirety of season 7 is pretty forgettable.
I would have liked a lot more Wilson/Other Character interaction, especially with Chase.
I don't think I'd like a reunion show, or a movie.
Monroe is a medical drama I started watching and it was quite good. Only two seasons and I'm yet to watch the second.

Agreed. After a year it's impressive how many excellent stories still post each week.

The Tritter arc had one of my all-time favorite episodes--"Son of a Coma Guy." Too bad the resolution of the arc wasn't executed better.
Hadn't heard of Monroe. *checks wikipedia* It ran in the UK. Interesting. The screenwriter, Peter Bowker, compared the series to House. Link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monroe_%28TV_series%29).
