Sense Memory
Title: Sense Memory
Author: Mnstrtruckslash
Summary: Wilson samples a favorite childhood candy and suffers some consequences and disappointment as a result.
Words: 91
Rating: G because this drabble has no violence, swearing, sex, drug use, or any other worrisome stuff. You could put this exact scene in a kid’s cartoon and most parents wouldn’t complain.
Warnings: A bit silly, I guess. Also, I don’t know if salt water taffy could do that kind of damage (let alone how much it costs to fix a crown) but other than a bit of angst, which is totally normal for people as they get older, there’s nothing to fret over.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Fox, House md, Hugh Laurie, Robert Sean Leonard, or Arthur Conan Doyle (who’s character was a loose inspiration for the character of House).
With the first bite, I’m ten-years-old at the Jersey shore again. I’m floating along in an inner tube. My brothers and I splash at each other, soaking up the sun without a care in the world. We went through gallons of candy every summer.
Now, the gooey treat catches in my teeth: pulling, cracking, agony! I should have known not to eat saltwater taffy with a new-ish crown. $900 bucks and eight hours in a dentist chair—not to mention pain/lectures—for thirty seconds of joy. It barely even tasted good.
