An Important Message For Our Members

When we started the Emergency Room over at Dreamwidth.org, it was just a temporary shelter in case someone needed a quick fix while LJ was down. Sort of an emergency lean-to constructed with tree branches, string and a tarp.

Since then, it seems like every time we turn around, there's something going on: DDoS attacks, programming bugs like
heartbleed, news about web sites getting hacked, viruses, etc. Even without major events, we've had trouble logging in/navigating after LJ updates itself. So we'd like to make our temporary shelter more like a cozy little bunker--more like home. And to do that, we need your help.

The trouble is, for many of our fics we only have links to Livejournal. If LJ went down today, only 68% of our fics could be read from our DW site. So if LJ is unavailable, the other 32% of our fics are too. That's 442 fics missing! Our hope is that some of you have your work up on other sites (and if not, we encourage you to do so, and to keep them up to date. The world needs sick_Wilson!). Dreamwidth, archiveofourown and fanfiction all provide free space for fanfic writers. There are probably other sites too.

So, please, take a few minutes to look over this list of authors, see if you are on it, and give us any non-LJ links for the fics we're missing. Your humble mod team and adoring readers thank you for it.

Last but not least, if you've moved away from House fandom and no longer want your old, sick!Wilsony fics cluttering up your journal--post them here! We'll gladly give them a home, and see to it that they are safely mirrored in our DW bunker.
