Camp Sick!Wilson 2012 Goodbye Mixer
Well Campers, here we are again, the last day of camp. It's always a bittersweet occasion, particularly this one, since it marks the series' end.
How can anyone not get emotional? Saying goodbye to new and old friends, regretting our decision to scarf up a strawberry shortcake instead of joining in an impromptu game of pin the tail on the donkey--only to find out later the donkey was code for our favorite oncologist, and the tail... I'll leave it to your imagination. *shakes head* Darn it, can't do it all.
So while we wait around for the buses, help yourselves to the brunch buffet in the mess tent, take advantage of the great company, chat and hug it out!
As an icebreaker, here's a template for you to use. Please tailor it to your tastes, or whatever you feel comfortable with.

ETA: Just received word from House. Wilson's surgery was successful. Everything remains intact and should be in working order after a six week recovery period.

Age: 34
Favorite House pairing: House/Wilson
Favorite House episode: The C-Word, Wilson, Histories, The Social Contract
Favorite House year: Early season 6, finale arc
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?: Yes because House and Wilson are two characters strong enough to live on in a fandom for a long time. Plus the people here are friendly and talented.
Other fandoms? What drew you to them?: Numb3rs because the family dynamic in contrast to the FBI aspect was so much fun to explore. Plus I met some wonderful people there.
Other Interests: Softball, animals, fishing, farming, reading.
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?: LOL! Well the reason I wasn't around camp the past couple of weeks is because I was kitten-proofing our house for two new additions that just came home last night. They are a hoot, although my two 15 year old cats would beg to differ.
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself: Hmm... I was literally rescued by Prince Charming? When I was 6 years old I fell off the top of a jungle gym flat on my back and knocked the wind out of my lungs. There had been a theater group performing Sleeping Beauty at our school and Prince Charming, still in full costume, picked me up and carried me to the school nurse. :-)
I'll be checking out all of the wonderful contributions as I get time. If it's okay, I plan to post some challenge entries also. I know it's too late to earn badges, but I still want to play. :-)

Favorite House pairing: House/ Wilson is my favorite, either as close friends, f**k buddies, or as a long-term couple, but I know some people don't think it's cannon. I also like Wilson/ Amber. I'm not a fan of House/ Cuddy or House / Stacy (they both hurt him a lot emotionally and physically. He was worse off because of both relationships) and I feel fairly strongly against Wilson/ Sam, and Wilson/ Julie because they were both pretty cruel/ hurtful to him. I think TPTB made Bonnie to whacky to be a permanent partner for Wilson but I like that they are still somewhat close.
Favorite House episode: hmmm that is a really good question. I think I'm going to have to make a top 8 list.
S1: I love how caring and protective Wilson is in "Sports Medicine" plus it's funny but there are a lot of other good ones.
S2: I really like "Autopsy" but I think that my favorite from this year is still "All In"
S3: too many to pick from. Maybe "Cane & Able," "One Day One Room," or
S4: hmm..."It's a Wonderful Lie" maybe? (Moose on a Jew)
S5: Probably "The Softer Side" but "
S6: This one is hard. A lot of good episodes but I'll go with "The Down Low"
S7: "Bombshells" I guess. (it was really cool the way they did all the dreams.)
S8: "The C-Word." (hard to watch but brilliantly done by all)
Favorite House year: hmm, that's a tough choice. I guess I would say my favorite was 3, followed closely by a four-way tie of 2, 5, 6, and 8. Last but not least we have seasons 1,4, and 7 a little further behind that. In season 1 they were just finding their way, 4was hit and miss, and in 7 there was too much of the House/ Cuddy stuff and not enough Wilson stuff/ House and Wilson interactions.
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?: Oh I'm staying. I love these guys too much to leave. If I ever find something I like more (which seems unlikely at this point) I might write and read less but I'm here to stay.
Other fandoms What drew you to them?: I used to watch Smallville more than House and I wrote a LOT of Smallvile fics. I once wrote an Ender's Game fic, and in the old, old days (1997-2001? I think) when you could still post real person fics on fanfiction.net I also wrote and posted a few Beatles fan fics (mostly John/Paul and Paul/ Linda) but I haven't done that since. I also set out to write the "worst" fanfic of all time but it came out pretty funny and since it was intentionally bad, people liked it. That was a House-Superman crossover. I think I'll post that this afternoon. I'll reply with the link although it's not really sickwilson.
Other Interests: Cooking, photography, horseback riding, reading, writing, Superman, words with friends/ scrabble, and poker.
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?: My older brother and my nephew David (technically I have two nephews but Jack isn't biologically related to me. My brother met Jack's mom when Jack was 7 (he is 19 now and currently lives in Japan (he's in the Marines) so he didn't come with) visited back in June right around David's 10th birthday, and I'll be going to see them in a few months. I love spending time with them. I'm also going to New York (not the first time) for a family reunion and I'll get to do a lot more sightseeing this time (last time I went was winter of 2009, and I was a fiction/ writing convention so I didn't get time to go out much. I'm also working, an I live in the Chicago suburbs so I get to go downtown a lot. I'm going to the Taste of Chicago this weekend.
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself: I'm not a neat freak but I hate when certain things aren't organized (books, music collections, movie/ TV show collections, etc) in any way. I even organize my clothes (First I separate the pants, long sleeve shirts, short sleeve shirts, pjs, and underthings into their own cubby or drawer or whatever.) by how often I wear certain things/ how likely I am to wear them. Shirts I wear once or twice a week go in front/ on top the stuff I only wear on special occasions on the bottom/ in the back).

H/W. There are other pairings?
Favorite House episode:
Oh gosh. Histories, Mob Rules,Three Stories, Autopsy, Birthmarks, Social Contract, Both Sides Now, Known Unknowns, Black Hole, Transplant, C Word, Post Mortem, Holding On
Favorite House year:
Seasons 1-3
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?:
I'll be here, but not as much. I have some other things slated to begin.
Other fandoms? What drew you to them?:
I've read in other fandoms but never written. Mostly what draws me to a fandom is strong characters I actually like.
Other Interests:
Judging by the amount of time I spend on them, my other interests include doing laundry and writing. In that order.
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?:
Surely you jest. :)
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself:
In RL I'm actually quite shy.
Personally, I'd like to take a moment to thank the awesome counselors and my fellow mods for the time and energy they lavished on Camp. You guys rock!
Yes, you do!

Favorite: S1, especially Damned if you do and the Vogler arc.
Favorite pairing: H/W, but I can read just about anything (except I'm squeaked by het sex).
Series end: I'm not going anywhere else.
I lurk on Jeeves/Wooster, because I've been a Wodehouse reader for more than 30 years.
This summer my plan is to spend six full weeks without my children and enjoy myself by working full time.
I enjoy writing in English much more than in my own language. I write, talk and think in English a lot in RL, but I never lived long in an English speaking country.
Many thanks to all counselors and mods!

Age: 55
Favorite House pairing: Houlse/Wilson in any form, friends, lovers, enemies ('cause they make up so nice, at least in fandom!) Wilson/Amber also. She made him realize he needs to put himself first - which he finally did in the final arc - *sob* (NOW the writers use something from earlier episodes!)
Favorite House episodes:
S1 Histories
S2 All In
S3 Son of Coma Guy
S4 House's Head/Wilson's Heart - all time favorites
S5 Birthmarks
S6 Wilson
S7 Out of the Shoot
S8 Tie: Transplant and Holding On
Favorite House year: Final arc of S8
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? I'm hooked. And not going ANYWHERE!
Why?: I've only been in Housedom since August 2010, so I'm still kind of a newbie. The writing was usually so much superior to anything else on American TV and I was hooked by the House/Wilson pairing from the first episode I saw: Three Stories.
House's line from that episode has become my mantra: "I find it more comforting to believe that all *this* isn't simply a test." House and John Lennon are my role models ("Imagine" is my favorite song of all time; I wish humans could accomplish all his imaginings!)
Other fandoms? What drew you to them?: Most were Science Fiction: Star Trek, Star Wars, Quantum Leap, Beauty and the Beast (TV); Characterization and good writing drew me in.
Other Interests: The Boston Red Sox - since I was 11 and found out Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) was from there; reading and writing; listening to my son play the banjo and guitar
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?: Keeping my 15-year-old son in music and instruments; attending games by the local AA Binghamton Mets baseball team; family reunions and parties; pretty much goofing off until school starts again.
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself: I met RSL last year after seeing "Born Yesterday," chatted with him a couple of minutes, and shook his hand. As we walked away my son was texting his friends to say his mother was geeking out!

Age: A good bit north of 40
Favorite House pairing: House/Wilson
Favorite House episode: "Airborne." (Yes, I know this is an episode beloved of House/Cuddy fans, but what I love about it is watching House successfully diagnose his patient with virtually nothing to work with. It's a true tour-de-force. My next two favorites are the "House's Head/Wilson's Heart" combo, if that makes up for it.)
Favorite House year: All but S7.
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?: Definitely hang around! The fandom is one of the joys of my life -- and the stories that can be written about House and Wilson will never run dry. I love the incredible creativity of this group of people.
Other fandoms? What drew you to them?: Star Trek, although I'm no longer active in that one. I enjoy Stargate SG-1 -- my partner writes in that fandom, but I don't.
Other Interests: Reading, writing (obviously), crochet.
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?: My job ramps up in summer until I barely know whether I'm coming or going. I can hardly wait for fall!
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself: I'm a morning person -- usually I don't need an alarm to wake up, and I leap out of bed without the need for caffeine.

Age: It begins with a three...
Favorite House pairing: House/Wilson
Favorite House episode: Three Stories
Favorite House year: Season Two
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?: I'll be here, although I've become more of an observer than a participant.
Other fandoms? What drew you to them?: WWE...discovered, quite by accident, last summer that I have a thing for muscles. There are hot men...I'm shallow.
Other Interests: Reading, writing, work (I do love my job), gym (never, ever thought I'd say that), talking to...anybody, shoes, trying to make salads interesting.
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?: I have a few weddings and a couple of short breaks planned. Need to do bits in the house and the garden.
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself: I prefer people to stand to the left of me.

Age: I never reveal this online either, because I don't like the idea of being deemed too young to understand things nor too old to enjoy some of the things I do.
Favorite House pairing: Amber/House/Wilson, Cuddy/House/Wilson, Cuddy/House/Thirteen/Wilson, Cuddy/Stacy, Cuddy/Thirteen, House/Stacy, House/Wilson, Kutner/Taub, Wilson/Amber
And just a tiny, tiny bit, House/Thirteen, even though one of the things I liked about House and her relationship was that she wasn't largely attracted to him, and I did enjoy their friendship...I just can't help myself. There's a deep understanding there, both without strong parent figures, both preferring to hide and ignore their issues and how they actually feel, and both in constant pain of some sort.
Favorite House episode:
Season 1: Damned If You Do, Mob Rules, Three Stories
Season 2: Cane & Able, Lines in the Sand, Skin Deep, All In, House vs. God
Season 3: Que Sera Sera, Son of a Coma Guy, Whac-a-Mole, Half-Wit
Season 4: Mirror Mirror, Don't Ever Change, House's Head/Wilson's Heart
Season 5: Birthmarks, The Social Contract
Season 6: Black Hole, Knightfall
Season 7: You Must Remember This, Out of the Chute
Season 8: Transplant, Dead & Buried, The C-Word
Favorite House year: Seasons 1, 2, first half of 3, and 4
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?: I intend to stick around. I have never had a work of fiction affect me in such a large and significant manner. It literally changed my life, the way I think, and the way I accept, judge, and look at myself, others, as well as the world. I got into the fandom rather late, the tail end of Season 6, so there are so many fics that remain unread. The fandom is filled with high-quality fanfiction, intelligent individuals, and fans who really dissect the show. Now that the entire series is over, one can rewatch and reexamine the characters, relationships, and series with a wiser mind; I feel as though I will have a different view on everything upon rewatching, and I truly have in what I've rewatched so far. I hope to discuss this more with others and have thoroughly been enjoying
Other fandoms? What drew you to them?: I've never been in any fandom before. I'm enjoying post-House fandom quite a lot, am not currently in any other fandoms, and don't plan to join any other fandoms. However, my friends who have been in fandoms before caution me that I will simply be unable to stay away...
Other Interests: A bit of guitar (I can only play a few chords and am rather poor at it), a bit of Japanese Anime, a bit of medicine, a bit of occasional baking, a bit of roleplay, having deep discussions with others, psychology, watching horrible horrible reality TV *guilty pleasure*
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?: I'm hoping to do a bit more traveling, one of my BFF's is having his birthday next weekend...that's about it really...
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself: I have relatively long hair and plan to grow it out to my lower back.

Age: 41
Favorite House pairing: House and Wilson, of course!
Favorite House episode: Can't pick just one. I really liked The Social Contract. Really can't think of one specific example. Basically, anything before season 4, though House's Head/Wilson's Heart was the highlight of season 4 for me. After season 4 there wasn't much I could come close to considering a favorite.
Favorite House year: Season 3
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?: I plan to stick around as long as the comms are active and there are people out there who continue to post and are willing to read what I post. My greatest fear and heartbreak over the end of the series has been watching the communities wither up and die. I love House MD so much that the thought of people abandoning it breaks my heart. In fact, I was at Walmart today and saw a bunch of the early season DVDs of House MD in the discount bin and felt outraged.
Other fandoms? What drew you to them?: I haven't participated in other fandoms. I've begun watching the first season of Sherlock on Netflix and am really enjoying it but I don't know if I'm ready to join any comms or write for it. It feels like adultery to me--cheating on my lover House MD, Lol! Maybe someday I'll lurk any Sherlock communities there might be but not yet.
Other Interests: Not too many, I'm afraid. The ones I do have are kinda dorky, like scrapbooking and Country-style decorating books and magazines. For the past two years my focus has been obsessively on House MD.
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?: Well, I'm going to Hawaii for the first time in my life. My family will be spending two weeks on Oahu. I'm really looking forward to it since I haven't travelled anywhere farther than 300 kilometres from home in several years and except for the Rocky Mountains, land-locked Alberta, Canada is pretty boring.
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself: I like studying up on conspiracy theories--I'm not a conspiracy nut, I just like learning about the theories that are out there and the reason why so many people believe in them. Oh, and I am one half of a set of twins my mother miscarried. My twin was miscarried but they managed to save me. All my life I've felt like something or someone was missing. When my mom admitted to me (I was already an adult) that I'd had a twin that was lost late second trimester, it began to make sense. Weird, huh?

Favorite House pairing: House/Wilson, House/Stacy, Wilson/Amber.
Favorite House episode:
Season 1: Three Stories
Season 2: All In
Season 3: Half-Wit
Season 4: House's Head/Wilson's Heart
Season 5: Birthmarks
Season 6: Wilson
Season 7: Bombshells
Season 8: Holding On
Favorite House year: Season 5
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?: I intend on hanging around. There is so much to still be explored within the canon the show created.
Other fandoms? What drew you to them?:
Current: Top Gear - I find James May to be very good looking and there are a lot of nice people. UK Politics - lots of pretty boys and the complexity in terms of relationships. I also like the the fact most of the fic is produced from an anon meme which kind of makes me feel less worried about the implications of participating in an RPS fandom; also for an RPS fandom it is totally tinhat free.
Past: The West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The X-files.
Other Interests: finding a job is my primary interest right now. I just finished my M. International Relations w/ Honours and am looking for a policy job w/ the Australian Public Service. I also like reading a lot and playing The Sims 3.
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?: I'm heading off to Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia for a month next Monday. It is my birthday on the 19th July. I'll be in Singapore. For the first time in my life I'll be warm on my birthday. Yay!
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself: I'm left brain dominant and left handed which is rare.

Favorite House year: Seasons 1-3
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?: As long as wonderful writers are posting, I'll be here to read. Hopefully to write a bit more too.

Age: North of 40
Favorite House pairing: H/W, but I also love H/W/C
Favorite House episode: This is always changing. Maybe 'The Social Contract' right now.
Favorite House year: Probably 2
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?: Yes. because I am still very much adoring the H/W world. I would love to keep writing and I hope others do to!
Other fandoms?: I have done HP, Master and Commander, the original Hawaii 5-0 and a few other minor ones.
Other Interests: Economics and Politics. Reading. Traveling when i have the chance.
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this summer?: Does going to New Jersey count as interesting? Oh, also, I am trying to teach myself how to type correctly this summer and I am writing lecture notes up for a new course I am going to teach in the fall semester. :)
Share one habit/quirk/fact about yourself: I type about 40WPM with only two figures, but I am trying to change that (see above)
I would also like to invite anyone interested in my non-fanom journal to friend me at

Favorite House pairing: House/Wilson (surprise!) - either friends or more but I'll read House with anyone if it catches my interest (well, I might draw the line at Masters :)
Favorite House episode: Three Stories (and Detox, Head/Heart, Broken, C-word, 20 Vicodins & lots of others that I foget at the moment)
Favorite House year: Probably 3, but maybe 1 or 2
With the series over, do you intend to hang around and participate in House fandom or are you moving on? Why?:Yes, because I don't let go of my obsessions that easily :) I still have heaps of things to write anyway.
Other fandoms? What drew you to them?:Used to be a Star Trek fan (because, Spock), brief dalliance with Quantum Leap (because of Al) , but nothing much more than a lurker in both. I like Sherlock and I've just finished Once Upon a Time season 1 but I don't feel particularly motivated to write in either (except for a crossover with House :)
Other Interests: It would be really boring if I said none wouldn't it? Um, I watch a fair bit of reality TV, and I'm on the internet a lot....
It's hard to surpass Camp, but are you doing anything else interesting this
summerwinter? I'm flying North tomorrow for ten days, it will be a degree or two warmer hopefully.no subject
